Introduction

TheBuild ("we", "our", "us") operates a fitness tracking application ("the App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use TheBuild. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

  • Account Information: When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from those providers.
  • Workout Data: We collect data you enter or import, including exercise sessions, exercises, sets, repetitions, and weights.
  • Subscription Data: If you subscribe to TheBuild, your purchase is processed by Apple via the App Store. We receive your subscription status (active, in trial, expired, cancelled) but do not have access to your payment card details.
  • Usage Data: We collect analytics data about how you interact with the App, including features used, screens viewed, and conversion events. This data is used to improve the App experience.
  • Advertising Identifiers: If you grant App Tracking permission on iOS, we collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) and a limited set of in-app events (such as install, registration, paywall view, and subscription) for advertising attribution and measurement (see "Advertising and Attribution" below).

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide fitness tracking services and sync workout data across devices
  • Calculate streaks, badges, and progress metrics
  • Enforce daily import limits for subscribers
  • Improve the App experience and fix bugs
  • Send important service notifications, including reminders before your free trial ends
  • Measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns and attribute installs and subscriptions to the ads that drove them (only when App Tracking permission is granted)

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We do not share your workout data, account details, or content with advertisers or data brokers.

Advertising and Attribution

We use the TikTok Business SDK to measure the performance of advertising campaigns we run on TikTok and to attribute app installs and subscriptions to those ads.

On iOS 14.5 and later, the App will request your permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt before any tracking occurs. If you grant permission, we share with TikTok:

  • Your device's advertising identifier (IDFA)
  • A pseudonymous user identifier
  • A limited set of in-app events: install, registration, paywall view, subscription, and key product interactions (e.g. workout imported, workout completed)

If you decline the tracking prompt, the IDFA is not collected and the SDK falls back to aggregated, non-identifying measurement. You can change this choice at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking, or revoke it for TheBuild specifically in iOS Settings › TheBuild › Tracking.

We do not use this data for any purpose other than advertising attribution and measurement. We do not share your workout data, name, or email with TikTok.

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database provider. Authentication is handled by our authentication provider, which securely manages your sign-in credentials and tokens. All providers employ industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest.

Third-Party Services

TheBuild uses the following third-party services. Each service has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.

  • Google Sign-In — identity provider
  • Apple Sign-In — identity provider
  • Supabase — cloud data storage and authentication
  • RevenueCat — subscription management and purchase verification
  • PostHog — product analytics
  • TikTok Business SDK — advertising attribution and measurement (only when App Tracking permission is granted)

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings > Delete Account. Upon deletion, all your workout sessions, saved workouts, preferences, and account data will be permanently removed.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data stored by TheBuild
  • Delete your account and all associated data at any time
  • Opt out of non-essential data collection

Children's Privacy

TheBuild is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the App.
